World Grand Prix Darts Preview
08/10/2012
One of the more unusual television darts tournaments starts Monday. The World Grand Prix is a £350,000 tournament broadcast this week on Sky Sports. It’s unusual because you have to finish and start on a double. Adding a whole new layer of complication to what is already a far from simple game.
Phil Taylor goes into the tournament looking for his eleventh title. BetVictor have him at an almost unheard of 9/4 to win the competition. It is true that his performance at the European Championship was less than impressive; but 9/4 for Phil the Power Taylor is lunacy, by any standards.
Michael van Gerwen goes into the tournament on great form. And last year’s surprise finalist Brendan Dolan showed at the recent European Championship that he is not a one tournament wonder.
There is a magnificent week of darts ahead.
