This is a rematch of the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City with the Venezuelans pulling off a 76-71 victory to secure their maiden crown.

Venezuela head coach Nestor Garcia has yet to finalize his final roster but expected to make the cut are 2015 squad mainstays Gregory Vargas, Jose Vargas, John Cox, Nestor Colmenares and Windi Graterol. All five also suited up in last year's Rio Olympics.

Argentina will also parade an experienced roster featuring NBA players Luis Scola, Nicolás Brussino and Patricio Garino and Real Madrid mainstay Facundo Campazzo. All four played in last year's Rio Games along with Nicolas Laprovittola, Gabriel Deck and Marcos Delia, who will also see action in this tournament.

Other players selected by head coach Sergio Hernandez were young players Tayavek Gallizzi, Javier Saiz, Máximo Fjellerup, Lucio Redivo and Luca Vildoza.
