Iran and Jordan are aiming to get the Group A top spot in the FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon on Sunday. 

The West Asian rivals are through to the knockout phase after posting victories over India and Syria. The Iranians boast of the prolific trio of Mohammad Jamshidi, Behnam Yakhchali and Hamed Haddadi. Jamshidi and Yakhchali are both averaging 17 points per game while Haddadi put up 16 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists in their first two games.

Head coach Mehran Hatami will also count on Arsalan Kazemi, Sajjad Mashayekhi and Oshin Sahakian. 

Leading the Jordanians in this match-up is star guard Mousa Alawadi, who averaged 19 points in their first two games. 

Backing up the Al-Riyadi mainstay is backcourt mate Mahmoud Abdeen and frontliners Ahmad Alhamarsheh, Yousef Abuwazaneh and Mohammad Hussein.

The winner will qualify directly to the quarterfinal while the loser will take on the third placer in Group B (China or Iraq) in the playoffs.

Iran walloped Jordan 82-59 in the West Asian Basketball Association Championship in Amman last February.
