Both Latvia and Turkey are already through to the Eurobasket Round-of-16 but they have yet to finalize their final positions in the knockout stage.

The Latvians are in a three-way tie with Serbia and Russia at the top of Group D with 3-1 records while the Turks are just behind at 2-2. The Serbians enjoy a higher points difference than the Latvians and Russians so they will get the top seed if the three teams end up tied after the group phase.

Serbia will face eliminated Belgium in their final game while Russia will play winless Great Britain.

Depending on the results of the other games, Latvia could end up first or fourth in the group. The Latvians will finish first if they beat the Turks and the Serbians lose to the Belgians. They will place second with a win over Turkey coupled with a Serbia victory over Belgium.

The goal for Turkey is to avoid a fourth-place finish and a last-16 date with unbeaten defending champion Spain. To do that, they must beat the Latvians. They can even finish second if they beat the Turks by at least nine points and if Great Britain upsets Russia and Serbia defeats Belgium.

Kristaps Porzingis will lead the Latvians in this match-up after putting up 21 points in their first four games. The versatile New York Knicks big man will get support from fellow NBA player Davis Bertans, Dairis Bertans and Janis Timma.

Leading the hosts in this game are incoming NBA rookie Cedi Osman, big man Semih Erden and guards Furkan Korkmaz and Melih Mahmutoglu.

The last meeting between Latvia and Turkey in this competition took place in 2001 with the Turks posting an 85-82 victory in Ankara.
