D'Tigress are determined to bring home the gold medal this time after placing third behind Senegal and Cameroon two years ago in Yaoundé. New head coach Sam Vincent has assembled an experienced roster led by Spain-based forward Adaora Elonu, the team's two scorer in the 2015 Afrobasket and in last year's Rio Olympics qualifiers.

Also back are Sarah Ogoke, Ndidi Madu, Chioma Udeaja, Nkechi Akashili, Evelyn Akhator and Upe Atosu. Completing the squad are Ezinne Kalu, Aisha Mohammed, Ugo Nwaigwe, Atonye Nyingifa and Cecilia Okoye.

Mozambique, meanwhile, lost to Angola in the quarterfinals two years ago and placed sixth overall. It was a disappointing performance considering that they finished runner-up to Angola when they hosted the tournament in 2013 after losing in overtime.

Mozambique booked a ticket to Bamako by blasting Zimbabwe in their two-game Zone 6 qualifying series in Maputo last March. Head coach Nasir Sale is back to lead the squad but only three players from his 2015 team return. Among them is Odelia Mafanela, the team's second leading scorer behind Deolinda Ngulela. Elisabeth Pereira and Iliana Ventura are the other holdovers from that squad.

Also making the cut were Leia Dongue, Anabela Cossa, Catia Halar and Rute Muianga, who were all part of the 2013 Afrobasket squad. Veteran Amelia Massingue also made the team after last representing the country in 2009.

Other members of the squad are Eleuteria Lhavanguane, Chanaya Pinto, Tamara Seda and Aquila Mucubaquine.

Nigeria defeated Mozambique 71-66 in the 2015 Afrobasket quarterfinal. They also posted a 78-62 over the Mozambicans in the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville.
