Doncaster will enjoy a financial windfall as a result of this tie but are highly unlikely to progress any further in the Carabao Cup when they visit Arsenal.

Rovers, along with their namesakes from Bristol, are one of only two clubs below Championship level to have reached the last 32 and have drawn one of the big fish, which means they will be hoping a large crowd packs into the Emirates Stadium as the gate receipts are divided equally.

As for Arsenal, they will simply want the night to pass off smoothly after the chaos that surrounded their Europa League match at home to Cologne last week when the kick-off was delayed by an hour due to the appalling conduct of travelling fans.

Sir Alex Ferguson had many famous battles with Arsene Wenger and now his son Darren will hope to upset the Frenchman, in one sense at least, with his League One side having earned this tie with victories away to Bradford City (3-2) and at home to Hull City (2-0).

But before the weekend, Donny had only recorded one other success this season and it appears inconceivable that they will cause the Gunners as many problems as their 2005 team in the last eight of this competition when it needed a 120th-minute Gilberto Silva goal to force a penalty shootout which Arsenal won.

Wenger has a large squad at his disposal and having given several fringe players a run-out in the 3-1 win against Cologne, it is possible that a similar line-up will be fielded for this game.

It appears merely a matter of how many goals Arsenal will prevail by and as was the case when they beat Nottingham Forest in this round 12 months ago, there could also be a glimpse of the future with some youngsters given a chance from the bench if they are comfortably ahead.
