FC Schalke 04 vs. Hamburger SV Preview

Schalke will host Hamburger SV for their Matchday 33 clash on Saturday looking to outclass the league strugglers and keep their top 6 hopes alive. Although they now sit 10th, they’re just five points behind 6th placed Freiburg to whom they’ve lost in their last outing.

HSV do travel to Gelsenkirchen on the back of a home draw against Mainz 05, but this has only ended their three-match losing streak and it’s a longshot to assume they can do more on a tough away day at VELTINS-Arena. With this in mind, their home clash against Wolfsburg next week could prove crucial in their ambition to hold on to their Bundesliga membership.

Die Konigsblauen have a nine-match unbeaten streak at their home ground, with four wins and five draws earned in the process, holding off sides such as Hoffenheim, BVB, Ajax, and Leipzig. With high stakes involved, we also expect a nervous display on both ends and few all-out attacks, where one goal could untangle it.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs. 1. FC Koln Preview

Koln travel to Leverkusen on Saturday on the back of a thriller home win over Werder Bremen (4-3) hoping to build on it and bag points at BayArena as well. While that might be an even tougher task, the home side have been in a poor spell of form recently and are capable of grabbing at least a draw.

After two draws beforehand (1-1 against Hoffenheim and 0-0 at Borussia Dortmund), die Geißbocke have thus finally ended their four-match winless streak and now come into the match motivated to break into the league’s top six, being just a point behind 6th placed Hertha and two points behind 5th placed Freiburg.

Bayer Leverkusen, on the other hand, host the match after a shaky 1-1 draw at struggling Ingolstadt with no wins since early April, with a rather tough schedule behind them. Their 1-4 loss to Schalke in their last home outing has been their first loss after earning draws against Werder (1-1), Wolfsburg (3-3), and Bayern Munich (0-0) and they’ll surely be no pushovers here either.

The visitors have had troubles keeping their clean sheets on the road but regularly scored goals, and we now fancy both sides getting on the scoresheet.

RB Leipzig vs. Bayern Munich Preview

The clash of the Bundesliga top 2 has lost on importance and intensity with Bayern securing the league title beforehand, travelling to Leipzig for Saturday's encounter after celebrating it with the home fans on the back of a 1-0 win over Darmstadt. However, RB Leipzig will surely be motivated to make a statement of intent for next season on home soil

Die Bullen have improved their form once again and earned a seven-match unbeaten streak with five wins and two draws behind them. They’ve proven to be one of the toughest away days in the league and it’s sure they’ll have what it takes to test the Bavarians on the day.

Furthermore, Bayern Munich have had their share of struggles for consistency and we’ve seen them suffer four losses in their last ten outings, with two draws and four wins earned in the process. With two confident displays, they’ve surely boosted their team spirits but it’s questionable whether that will be enough to bag points on the day.

FC Augsburg vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview

Augsburg will host Borussia Dortmund on Saturday in an attempt to hold off the visitors and bag important points in their attempts to escape the danger zone late in the season. Although they have recently improved their form and earned seven points in four games, we don’t feel they’ll be able to do much against BVB who also come in desperate need of points to keep their automatic Champions League qualifying spot.

Borussia Dortmund come into the match after a 2-1 home win over Hoffenheim, jumping the rivals and now standing 3rd and two points clear with two games to play. This has made it a four-match unbeaten streak for Die Borussen, who will now be very motivated to keep it intact ahead of the tough home clash against Werder on the last day of the campaign.

BVB have largely improved their form recently and many argue they’ll grab the UCL spot deservedly if they do so, and their recent results with tough schedule surely speak for themselves. They’ve beaten Bayern Munich (2-3), held Koln to a goalless draw and earned a 2-1 home win over Hoffenheim over the past two weeks, and it’s a longshot to assume Augsburg can now do more.

However, we have seen Die Fuggerstadter improve in the final third and net 15 goals in their last seven home games. They should be able to break down BVB’s at times shaky defensive line.

Mainz 05 vs. Eintracht Frankfurt Preview

Eintracht Frankfurt travel to Mainz after suffering two narrow losses in clashes against Hoffenheim (1-0) and Wolfsburg (0-2), hoping to finally return to the winning ways and keep their top 3 hopes alive. However, with their poor form on the road, it’s difficult to see them taking away anything from this fixture.

Mainz have been in a similarly poor run but they’ve now suffered just one loss in their last four matches, despite a tough schedule (with a 1-0 win over Hertha and draws at Bayern Munich and HSV earned in the process).

Die Nullfunfer have dropped down the table with a horrendous March/April series, but we’re used to better performances in front of the home fans and they should be able to now return to such a form. The visitors have suffered seven losses in their last eight away games and with Mainz coming into the match in desperate need of points, we do feel they’ll outgun them on the day too.

Both sides have struggled for consistency and inspiration in the final third and we’ll surely be in for another tight contest.
