1. FC Koln vs. Mainz 05

Koln will host Mainz for their Matchday 34 clash looking to outclass the struggling rivals and break into Bundesliga’s top 6 on the final day of the campaign.

Die Geißbocke have earned a four-match unbeaten streak despite the very tough schedule behind them, coming into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw at Bayer Leverkusen which has seen them move just two points behind 6th placed Freiburg and three behind 5th placed Hertha. With Freiburg travelling to Bayern Munich and Hertha playing Bayer, the home side have a lot to hope for coming into the clash.

Mainz, on the other hand, struggle just above the relegation zone and a loss here could mean relegation play-off for them if Augsburg, Wolfsburg, and HSV earn the needed points on the day. They travel to Koln on the back of a 4-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt but it’s a longshot to assume they can build on that here.

Nonetheless, Die Nullfunfer have thus returned to a great goalscoring form and could put in a great challenge at RheinEnergieStadion.

The sides have met three times over the past year with all three clashes played at OPEL Arena. Koln have earned a 2-3 win in April 2016, building on it with a convincing 0-3 friendly win in August and a goalless draw in January 2017.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Werder Bremen

Borussia Dortmund will host Werder Bremen on Saturday as they attempt to secure a Champions League spot with no concern for the outcome of Hoffenheim’s home clash against Augsburg. While this would be no easy task, the visitors have largely lost their consistency over the past two weeks and the home win is odds on with the bookmakers.

BVB have been superior in front of the home fans this term and their loss to Monaco (2-3) in Champions League was their first across competitions. They’ve regained consistency since then and now come into the match with three wins and two draws in their last five games, making it into DFB Pokal final over Bayern Munich in the process.

Bremen's two high scoring losses to Koln (4-3) and Hoffenheim (3-5) has seen them drop out of the league’s top six and looking for a chance to bounce back on the final day of the season, but it’s a longshot to assume they can do so on one of the toughest Bundesliga away days.

Both sides have scored at least a goal in all of their last six head-to-head encounters, where Die Borussen earned five wins and suffered just one loss in the process. They’ve secured the points earlier this season with a 1-2 win at Weserstadion in January, and we do feel they’ll now be able to build on it with high stakes involved.

Hertha BSC vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Hertha host Bayer Leverkusen hoping to secure their top 6 spot by outclassing their rivals and earning at least a point on the final day of the 2016/17 term.

Die Alte Dame have largely dropped on consistency but their home streak hasn’t seen much of a blow as they’ve still earned four wins in their last six outings there since late February, with just two losses (1-3 to Hoffenheim and 1-4 to Leipzig) in the process. They now come into the match in desperate need of points and with the visitors coming in a shaky spell of form, they should have what it takes to bag them.

Bayer Leverkusen have earned just three points with three draws and three losses suffered in their last six outings, holding Ingolstadt (1-1) and Koln (2-2) to draws in their last two games. They’ve thus escaped the immediate danger zone and secured a Bundesliga survival but it’s questionable whether there will be much confidence taken from it.

Hertha have earned a narrow win (2-1) in their last head-to-head encounter at this ground back in December 2015 and although they’ve suffered losses at BayArena in April 2016 (2-1) and January 2017 (3-1), we do feel they’ll be able to repeat the success on the day.

Bayern Munich vs. SC Freiburg

Freiburg travel to Munich aiming for a return to winning ways and retain their Bundesliga top 6 spot on the final day of the campaign. However, with their unconvincing home draw against Ingolstadt (1-1) last week and two comfortable away losses in a row behind them, it’s a longshot to assume they can make it at Allianz Arena.

Bayern come into the match in red-hot form after earning a thriller win over Leipzig (4-5) last week and with confidence taken, they should be able to outclass the visitors in front of the home fans. They’ve secured the title with a 13-point advantage to the 2nd placed Rotten Bullen and surely host the clash with their flags flying high.

The Bavarians have based their success on fine home form throughout the season and across competitions. Although there were several slip-ups there (including losses to Real Madrid and BVB, as well as a Bundesliga draw to Mainz 05), we do feel they’ve returned to their great shape recently and have what it takes to return to their home streak on the day.

There’s a great chance a loss here would mean dropping out of the top 6 for the visitors and Breisgau-Brasilianer will be motivated to make an impact and snatch the points. And they’ve been finally scoring goals on a more regular basis.

Bayern Munich secured the points at Schwarzwald-Stadion earlier this season with a narrow 1-2 win back in January.
