Burkina Faso v Angola preview

Burkina Faso are struggling to replicate their 2017 African Cup of Nations form since the competition ended. Despite being the rank outsiders to win the trophy back in January, the Stallions managed an incredible third placed finish, going within a penalty shoot-out from reaching the final when knocked out by Egypt at the semi-final stage.

Since the tournament ended however, Paulo Duarte's men are yet to earn a victory and they've friendlies with Morocco and Chile and been held to two draws by Benin in exhibition matches. Now that the serious stuff is about to get underway again, can the return to the form that made them to success story of the 2017 ACON by winning here at 1/2?

Angola competed in the World Cup as recently as 2006 but since then, they've struggled to hit the heights and failed to qualify for a World Cup since and even failed to qualify for the last two African Cup of Nations finals, leaving fans frustrated at a lack of tournament football - but can they turn it around in this campaign?

Put simply, it seems unlikely. Palancas Negras just lack any quality or togetherness at the moment and that is displayed by the fact that they've managed just one victory in their last seventeen international outings, a run which has included defeats to Mauritius and Lesotho among others.

Although the hosts should win the game, we're not seeing much value in the handicap markets or the to-win markets given that they haven't managed a win since the African Cup of Nations ended in February. Instead, we're looking towards the goals markets as we're expecting a low-scoring affair at Stade du 4 Aout.

Eight of Burkina Faso's last ten matches have seen fewer than three goals scored whilst Angola's forwards have been in miserable form in recent matches, finding the net on just two occasions in their last seven games.
