Cork City will host Limerick for their Matchday 18 clash on Friday looking to extend their superior form and build on their four-match winning streak, which they’ve earned since a surprise draw (1-1) at Galway United mid-May.

They’ve recently outclassed Shamrock Rovers (4-1) and Dundalk (0-3), managing a true confidence booster, so we do believe John Caulfield’s men have what it takes to build on the series.

Limerick do come into the match on the back of a convincing 5-3 win over Bray Wanderers themselves but we don’t see the magic working at Turner’s Cross, though, as the home side will surely be much more of a challenge. Super Blues have been struggling for consistency and haven’t connected two wins since early April, so it does come off as a longshot to assume they can do so on the toughest away day in Premier Division.

However, seeing them score and concede many goals over the past couple of weeks (where they’ve netted ten and conceded 11 in last five outings) does promise another thrilling contest in Cork. Nine of Cork City’s last ten home outings have ended with three or more goals total.

Interestingly, Limerick have snatched all three points on their last trip to this ground, earning a 2-3 win in August 2015. However, they’ve suffered three convincing home losses since as Cork snatched a 2-5 win in a February 2016 friendly, 0-3 league win in March 2017, and a 0-3 League Cup win in April.
