Exeter City and Carlisle United are finely poised at 3-3 ahead of the second leg in their EFL League Two Play-Off semi-final at St. James Park on Thursday. Will it be the Grecians or the Cumbrians who eventually prevail and advance to the final at Wembley?

Exeter City v Carlisle United PreviewThe scores could not be closer and there is very much everything to play for ahead of the second leg of this nail-biting League Two Play-Off semi-final.

Exeter looked like they would be carrying an advantage after goals from Joel Grant, Ryan Harley and David Wheeler saw them establish a 3-1 lead in the first leg on Sunday.

However, two goals in as many minutes from John O’Sullivan and Shaun Miller helped Carlisle level things up and they will have the momentum going into the second leg.

Keith Curle’s men are unbeaten in four matches away from Brunton Park and, despite the absence of the in-form Jabo Ibehre, Jamie Proctor will be hoping to lead the line once again and score for the third away game running.

Opposite number Reuben Reid is also aiming to find the net for Exeter’s third home match in succession, while Paul Tisdale will be looking for inspiration from fellow in-form forwards Wheeler and Jordan Moore-Taylor.

Both sides have now scored at least twice in each of the last four meetings between them, while they have failed to keep a clean sheet in a combined 17 matches.

Therefore, we can expect another flurry of goals at St James’ Park, but Carlisle’s momentum at having come back could just see them snatch the victory needed to advance to Wembley.
