Rangers v Celtic live stream - Gers' Old Firm misery to continue

Brendan O'Neill in Football 20 Sep 2017

Can the Gers earn a long-awaited league victory over their arch-rivals or will the Bhoys incredible unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership continue?

Rangers may be back in the big time after rising up through the Scottish Football League over the last few seasons, but their first campaign back in the top tier didn't exactly go to plan as they finished in 3rd place and were beaten in the semi-finals of both cup competitions by their arch rivals Celtic, whilst also losing 5-1 home and away to the Bhoys in the Scottish Premiership.

After just about managing to qualify for European football, the Teddy Bears were knocked out by Luxembourgish outfit Progres Niederkorn and their league form so far has been patchy at best. That said, Pedro Caixinha's men do come into this game on the back of a four match unbeaten streak in the league.

Celtic's dominance in Scottish football just appears to becoming more and more commanding. The Bhoys went the whole league season unbeaten last year as they picked up yet another Scottish Premiership trophy, as well as both domestic cups as well. The beginning to this campaign has been predictably easy for the club too as they've won five and drawn one of their six league games thus far.

Although the gap between themselves and the rest of Scottish football appears to be widening, it's the gap between themselves and Europe's elite that will be worrying boss Brendan Rodgers, particularly after the 0-5 home defeat at the hands of PSG last week. A welcome return to domestic football saw the Bhoys put four past Ross County last weekend and they're expected to win the Old Firm derby too.

The Bhoys faced no problems in their encounters versus Rangers last season as they won three of the four league meetings, two by impressive 5-1 scorelines. Although the Gers have produced some decent performances of late, the gulf in quality between the two squads is clear for all to see and we're expecting the hoops to ease to another win here.

Callum McGregor has been in and out of the Celtic starting eleven since breaking through to the first team in 2014. The central midfielder, who came through the ranks at Parkhead, has been in fine form at the start of the current campaign though, finding the net three times in just six league appearances.
