Vancouver entertain Minnesota in a midweek MLS encounter in confident mood following a 3-2 victory over Real Salt Lake City at the weekend that saw them climb to third in the Western Conference standings and extend their unbeaten run in the league to four.

The Caps now sit just two points adrift of second placed Seattle Sounders, on whom they have two games in hand, and first placed Portland Timbers, who have played three more games than the Whitecaps.

That put the Canadian side in prime position to make first their own tonight and with games in hand, to keep it, if they can maintain their current vein of form.

Their next three outings are against Minnesota, Columbus Crew and Colorado Rapids, with only Columbus from the Eastern Conference boasting realistic play-off hopes.

The fact that the ‘Caps are 6-2-2 in their last ten matches will only add to confidence in the squad.

They face a Minnesota side who are still struggling to get up to speed in their first MLS season. They have improved since the start of the campaign, taking four points from their last two outings, however their points haul of 26 is the second worst in Major League Soccer this term to date.

The hosts will be without the services of defender David Edgar (MCL tear) and midfielder Matias Laba (torn ACL) for the clash due to injury, while United are minus midfielders Bernardo Anor (left leg) and Thomas de Villardi (Achilles) and defender Jermaine Taylor (head).
