North Queensland Cowboys will bid to cause a third successive upset in the NRL Finals when they clash with Sydney Roosters in the Preliminary Final at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.

North Queensland Cowboys have had to do things the hard way but remain just one win away from a spot in the Grand Final as they prepare to face Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium.

The Cowboys' road to the Preliminary Final has seen them record two wins on the road - a 15-14 Golden Point success over Cronulla Sharks and a 24-16 success over Parramatta Eels in last week's Semi Final.

Now the men from Townsville, who snuck into the finals at the last minute, face a third successive away fixture as they try to cause another upset and deny the Roosters a place in the Grand Final.

The Roosters enjoyed a weekend off last week having defeated the Brisbane Broncos 24-22 in the Qualifying Final in the opening weekend of the finals action.

History favours the Sydneysiders too with the Roosters having won four of their last five games against the Cowboys, including a 22-16 success at Allianz Stadium in Round 21 this year. A similar success looks on the cards but expect only a try in it.
