It promises to be another busy 11 months on the World Snooker circuit, with a total of 24 events to look forward to and £12 million in prize money to play for.

All but one event from last year’s calendar has remained for the new season with the exception of the World Open, which has been replaced by the biannual World Cup from July 3-9, when Chinese teenagers Zhou Yuelong and Yan Bingtao will be hoping for the opportunity to defend the title following their shock victory two years ago.

Runaway world number one Mark Selby will be defending five crowns this season including the lucrative International Championship, which takes place from October 29 to November 5, as well as the UK Championship from November 28 to December 10.

Crucible finalist John Higgins is the reigning champion in the China Championship, which will be contested as a ranking event for the first time this year from August 14-20, and the Champion of Champions in early November.

Ronnie O’Sullivan will defend his record-breaking seventh Masters title from January 14-21, while Selby’s quest for a hat-trick of World Championship crowns will round off the season from April 21 until May 7.

The Home Nations Series also returns with all players eyeing that £1 million bonus starting at the English Open from October 16-22 and Irish Open from November 20-26.

The Scottish Open will be the last trophy up for grabs in 2017 from December 11-17, while the Welsh Open concludes the series from February 26 to March 4.

Here’s a closer look at the provisional calendar ahead of what promises to be another highly entertaining campaign on the snooker circuit.
