The Minnesota Twins are chasing history so they are inspired heading into their four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field.

The Twins (76-69) are currently ranked second to the New York Yankees (79-66) in the American League Wildcard Standings. They are ahead of the Los Angeles Angels (74-71) and Seattle Mariners (73-73) in the race for the final postseason berth with just over two weeks left in the regular season.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Twins will become the first team to lose over 100 games in the previous season and reach the postseason the following year should they claim one of the two wildcard spots.

The Twins are coming off a two-game sweep of the San Diego Padres and have won five of their last seven games. Eddie Rosario is out to impress again after hitting a two-game homer in the 10th inning to lead Minnesota to a 3-1 victory over San Diego on Wednesday.

Jose Berrios (12-7) will start for Minnesota in this game. The 23-year-old right-hander did not earn a decision in their 2-5 defeat at Kansas City last Saturday where he gave up eight hits and two runs in seven innings.

The Blue Jays (68-78), meanwhile, have fallen behind in the wildcard race. They are coming off a 1-2 defeat to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday that ended their four-game winning run.

Brett Anderson (3-3) is Toronto's starting pitcher in the opener. The 29-year-old lefty gave up five hits and two runs and struck out five in six innings in their 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers last Saturday.
