About PSA World Tour

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) is the global governing body responsible for the administration of both men’s and women’s professional squash around the world. PSA boasts over 750 registered players with in excess of 200 tournaments taking place around the world every year.

It's main offering is the PSA World Tour, which showcases the sport at its highest level in tournaments such as the Allam British Open and the El Gouna International at some of the world’s most unique and jaw dropping locations.

Events on the PSA World Tour are broken down into four categories ranging from the elite World Series, featuring only the top players on the circuit, to 5-15 level, where up and coming stars take their first steps on the road to stardom.

The biggest prize in squash is undoubtedly the PSA World Championship, an annual tournament that brings 80 of the world’s best players together for a week of intense court action as they battle it out for the right to become World Champion.

The PSA World Tour culminates at the Dubai PSA World Series Finals in May.

About PSA Dubai World Series Finals

The PSA World Series ‘Road to Dubai’ brings the world’s best players together at eight of the most prestigious events in the game at some of the most iconic sporting locations in the world as they battle it out for a place at the prestigious season-ending Dubai PSA World Series Finals in May/June.

The PSA Dubai World Series Finals is another example of not only the increasing regional presence of squash, but also Dubai’s growing reputation for hosting world-class events and end of season tournaments.

The World Series Finals moved to Dubai following an agreement between the Professional Squash Association and Dubai Sports Council, facilitated by Falcon and Associates.

The 2017 World Series Finals saw the tournament become the first sporting event to be held in the famous Dubai Opera and boasted a hefty $160,000 prize pool.

It was another coup for the tournament organisers, who stage the event in front of the stunning Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world – the previous year.

Only the top eight players on the Men’s and Women’s PSA Road to Dubai Standings qualify for a much sought after berth in Dubai.

The eight players in each division will make up two groups of four, with a round-robin play determining the semi-finalists. Each player faces at least three matches, and the top two finishers in each group progress to the next phase of the tournament.

The scoring system at the World Series Finals differs slightly to a normal PSA World Tour event with a best-of-three format adopted up until the final, which is best-of-five.

When the group standings are determined, the tournament enters a straight knock-out phase where it's a case of winner takes all.

The inaugural World Series Finals were hosted Zurich, Switzerland back in 1993. Pakistani superstar Jansher Khan defeated Chris Dittmar in the maiden final to win the first of his four titles – all of which came in the first five editions of the tournament.
